Happy Holidays, everyone! How was everyone's Christmas?
This will likely be the second-last blog I post as founder for this group. Here's why:
I love Typography, but my heart isn't in it the way it is for some of the wonderful artists here. Truthfully, I am not a strong artist myself, and while I may be capable of leading this group, I am not someone that my members can truly look to for inspiration.
Adjoining that is the fact that this group has been
dormant since its beginning. We have held zero contests, given out zero prizes, held zero events, and does not have any
true history of engaging and inspiring its members.
This is because I do not have enough interest in the group itself, in its core reason for being, to dedicate my time to hosting such things.
Therefore, I need a new leader. I am open to considering
anyone for the role, however, before I make my decision, I will evaluate those who put themselves forward with the following criteria:
1. First and foremost, your written English skills must be
at my level or better. I consider this to be one of the most important points because I see
way too many groups that have poor interaction because their founder and staff
cannot communicate with their members.
2. You must be willing and capable of hosting frequent events and contests. This is the more important specification. Unless I accomplish electing someone that is willing, able to, and has a history of hosting events and contests, I might as well abandon this effort and continue leading the group myself.
3. You ideally create and develop typographic art on a steady basis. This is not mandatory, but would be an improvement from someone like myself.
Those are my three stipulations. A very ideal candidate speaks very well, has a history of hosting contests, creates his own art, and engages his members well.
To consider yourself for the position, please note the group with your name and any information about yourself regarding these requirements. Do not simply give me your name and say "please pick me (:" because what I'll actually read is "I'm incompetent, please don't pick me (:".
The decision will likely come on or after Jan. 01. Keep in mind that I will be responding to your note if I want to consider you; and will likely want to have a chat with you to discuss the matter further and answer any of your questions.
Can't wait to see who throws in their hat! Thanks everyone and happy new year!
